Artist and friend, Sharon Strite, painting in the rain! Good thing we had some cover.

Painting on our land with the Massanutten mountain range to my right.
It is fun to have a buddy to paint with.  Plein Air, a  french expression for "open air" used to describe the act of painting.  It was not the perfect conditions; overcast, rainy, a bit too dull for my liking...So here is an example of Artistic Licence:

Before - The scene I chose to paint.

After - Here I took the liberty of brightening things up a bit. I knew I wouldn't be happy with a strictly representational piece.
After some final touches in the studio, I am happy to introduce.....

Nadia, I am loving our days together painting in plein air. Even though it was a gray and rainy day I loved our time on your farm attempting to capture on canvas the beautiful scenery surrounding your home. Even though my painting wasn't the greatest I am learning alot by painting on location. Today painting at the river was again another memorable day.

Thank you for the inspiration Sharon! Plein Air painting is both exhilarating and challenging. Your art reflects your good eye and experience.
