NEW! Pick the frame! Included FREE!
"Peony Diva", $395. SOLD
Hello friends, I am including an elegant two inch frame with a value of over $100, to the lucky owner of
"Peony Diva". The finished framed dimensions will be appx. 24" x 20".
The only thing is, I can't decide which way to go.
Will you help me pick the frame?
Just click on comment on left or top of page. Please tell... which do you think would go best:
Black with gold interior trim (one of my favorites). It is upscale and makes color pop.
Gold (this one has some grayish blue in it)
Warm Silver (nice and neutral, goes with everything. Do I see a little turquoise?)
In My Studio or Your Home...
My friend, Monica, and I, ventured to West Virginia to see our long time friend Helen Simms. We've known Helen for years. She is one of the loveliest, gentlest ladies I know.
It was my first time in her beautiful home and lord and behold, when entering, I had a whole wall of Nadia watercolors! Helen assured me that she didn't put them up just for my visit.
It was so heart warming and took me back in time.
Thank you Helen. It was wonderful seeing you and hope to do it again real soon!
I'll skip the flat tire story coming home... :)

Next month, I am giving away a print to one of you!
Backlit Rose, $250.
10" X 8" Oil on .5" textured gold painted cradle
(see more here)
Hello Friends, The theme this month seems to be about glass. I've just completed
"Back lit Rose", the paint is still wet so I would not be able to ship for a couple of
weeks at least...
I must say, it took me three days painting the vase alone! So much for wanting to paint quicker. Please don't let that deter you as painting glass doesn't have to be that in depth - I got a little carried away with the intriguing shimmering dark and light shapes, and the reflections bouncing off the glass...that's what painting is about, finding something that sparks your interest and following up on it.
As promised, I've documented my process on how to paint glass. Though at times, I may struggle with it, it really is much easier than it seems and a lot of fun. It just takes a little practice. Don't think glass! paint what you see.

Do you like Chocolate Cake?
If you like reading about anything french, a little romance and love food, you'll really enjoy, The Grape Series books by Laura Bradbury. When signing up for Laura's newsletter on her website, you will receive a free download of her first book, "My Grape Year" or you can buy it on Amazon. It was an adorable light read. You also receive some of her favorite French recipes. Well, I tried her authentic French Chocolate Cake recipe on Mother's Day and it was soooo good, moist, rich and EASY to make. It's the bomb! Honestly, I didn't think it would be enough for 6 to 8 people but it was and only 1 tbsp of flour throughout!!!
Get the recipe here: French Chocolate Cake Recipe
Let me know if you try it and what you think! Here is the picture of my cake when it came out of the oven. Next time, I will sprinkle some confectioners sugar to make it a little decorative though you don't really need it. Hope you try it!
Luray High School Art Class Field Trip
A nice visit by the class at my Studio for an oil painting demonstration with their their teacher extraordinaire, Kayla Koslow.
We collaborated painting a sunflower in blue jar, did some sketching outside in the garden and sent them all off with a "Nadia" gift print plus a firm reminder of where to go a few years from now when they buy their new homes and need some original art for their walls :)
Seriously, it was my pleasure and inspiration to meet these talented, well mannered young people.
I wish them all the brightest future.
It is with pleasure that I announce the Drawing winner of "Velvet Glow" print.
The drawing was held at the Spotswood Garden Tour event this past May 1st, in Harrisonburg, VA. Thank you friends for coming out. It was a lovely warm day and very enjoyable meeting the many visitors at the successful Market Place event.
The winner is: Carol Yetzer !!!
Congratulation Carol! I will be in touch by email or please contact me.
On a sad note, after almost 17 years together, our family lost our sweet and beloved miniature dachshund, "Mitzi".
If you too have lost a loved one, you might find this quote by Winnie the Pooh helpful:
"If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever." --
Farewell, sweet girl...
